Hi I’m Maura. I’m a design history student currently based in NYC.
I graduated in May 2020 from Davidson College, where I earned my BA in English and Studio Art. While at Davidson, I won awards for sculpture and photography. I also received four grants during my time at Davidson which allowed me to pursue creative projects, conduct research, collaborate with other artists, and engage in diverse modes of art-making both domestically and internationally.
After graduating, I worked as a showroom assistant at Atlanta’s Decorative Arts Center. I also began a small business through which I create and sell unisex, up-cycled outerwear made of antique and vintage textiles. Currently, I am based in New York City and am working towards my Master’s Degree in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture with an emphasis on twentieth-century fashion history.
My passions include fashion design and fashion history as well as sustainability within the fashion industry. I am interested material culture’s global significance and am eager to explore the important role of design history within the realms of storytelling, visual media, and contemporary society.
